ROME — ST PETER'S SQUARE

Rome, for the fifth time: five days, from Wednesday 17 to Sunday 21 March 2027, in an apartment in Prati, close to the Vatican. Below is the planned mission file: the Vatican Museums, the Colosseum, the Palatine and Castel Sant'Angelo, and of course our regular haunts. During the trip this log will be filled with the real pictures.

Day 1 — Wednesday 17 March 2027

Outbound journey

By car to Rotterdam, a burger on the way, and at 17:35 flight HV6035 from Rotterdam The Hague Airport to Fiumicino. By bus to the Vatican and the last stretch on foot to the apartment in Prati. On the first evening, pizza gets delivered.

Day 2 — Thursday 18 March 2027

Vatican Museums and Colosseum

Breakfast at Coffee Time 49, and at 10:00 the Vatican Museums: they are closed tomorrow for San Giuseppe. By metro on to the Colosseum, around 13:00, and then along Via dei Fori Imperiali to Antica Roma 013 on Piazza Venezia. Dinner at Gli Archi in the evening.

Palatine, Forum and Capitoline Museums

After breakfast, with yesterday's Colosseum ticket to the Palatine and the Roman Forum, leaving on the Capitoline side and on into the Capitoline Museums. Then down the Cordonata to Antica Roma, and back to Gli Archi in the evening.

Castel Sant'Angelo and Palazzo Altemps

On foot along Via della Conciliazione to Castel Sant'Angelo, across the bridge to Palazzo Altemps, and past the Pantheon to Piazza Venezia. The last evening at Gli Archi, and then packing the suitcases.

One last breakfast at Coffee Time 49, check-out, the suitcases into storage at Termini, and with yesterday's combined ticket to Palazzo Massimo alle Terme and the Baths of Diocletian. Then taking it easy until the bus to Fiumicino, and at 19:45 flight HV6036 back to Rotterdam.
